December 1, 2011- The Wicked Winds

Well today is one of those days that I feel like I need to blog since I count this as a sort of journal! The "Wicked Winds" came for a visit today. I really didn't think it was going to be that big of a deal, but boy was I wrong. I got up this morning and went to the school. All of the lights were off except for those ran by the generator. There were about 5 adults total in the school. Trees were being ripped out of the ground and fences and debris were flying EVERYWHERE. The district didn't let us officially cancel school, but once all of our students had parents pick them up and take them home we were able to go home. The winds reached 102 mph in Centerville. I stayed home for the majority of the day, but when I did go outside again it was crazy to see the amount of damage that was caused by this storm! TONS of trees have been uprooted. Fences are wrecked. Garbage is everywhere. We honestly have so much to be thankful for today. I am so thankful that we are safe, our home is still intact, we have power & heat, and our cars don't have any damage. Our family is also safe with minimal damage to their homes & vehicles. I know that my Heavenly Father was watching over us today and I am thankful for the protection he provided for us.
