Unexpected blessings...

It is true that things happen when you least expect them to. I was finally okay with the fact that I wasn't going to be getting a job until next school year. I was up eating breakfast on Friday getting ready to go to a sub job when I got a phone call. It was from the principal at West Point Elementary School. She said that they had a teaching position that needed to be filled immediately and that they wanted me to fill it. I will be honest-I was in shock! It's been a whirlwind ever since. I am now a 5th grade teacher! I didn't sleep more than 4 hours on Saturday and ended up getting a cold, so I am sick, exhausted, and excited all at once. It is definitely an experience going in to a classroom that used to be someone else's and taking over. I am still working on getting the class to respect me and learn my procedures. That is definitely the hardest part. I can teach lessons all day long...but ask me to get kids to respect me when they had another teacher 5 days ago...now that's a challenge! Heavenly Father sure knows how to test me and stretch me beyond my wildest dreams. Although it is scary and completely different than I imagined it being I am very thankful that I have been given this opportunity. On the bright side, next year will feel like a cake walk compared to this! :)
