Not so subtle answers...

Disclaimer: This is kinda lengthy. :)

I've always heard that Heavenly Father can answer prayers in not so subtle ways. This hasn't really been my experience in life. Most of the time it's him telling me to either do what I have planned or to tweak my plans a little and take a slight detour. I've never really experienced that "DON'T DO IT!" moment before today.

Casey and I have been considering buying a home for about 6 months now. We looked pretty seriously for a while, but we just couldn't find what we wanted, so we moved into a two bedroom apartment so that Taysom would have a place to be when he was born. Since I am continuing to teach out at West Point and Casey goes to school and works in Ogden, we have been thinking we need to move closer to both of those places. As a mom, it is tearing me up inside that I have a 40 minute total (20 minutes one way) commute...that's almost an hour a day that I am in a car and not with my baby on top of the 9+ hours i'm at work. You can probably see why I would want to be closer. We started looking at the possibility of town homes and found one for a great deal! I was excited to look at it. We went to look at it tonight and since we were too busy searching for a house number we didn't see the SMALL sign posted about not parking on the street. We parked on the street and went to look inside for a total of probably 10 minutes. Our realtor ran out to her car really quickly to grab paperwork ( we were ready to make an offer) and came back in and said our car was missing...we thought she was joking, so I went to go check...she wasn't kidding. It was gone. Keep in mind it had 7 cans of formula, Taysom's diaper bag, and his stroller in it. We were a little worried...Casey found the sign and called the towing company. A man answered and said we had to pay $229 to get the jeep back...as Casey was explaining why we had parked on the street (we didn't see the sign and were looking to BUY a town home), the guy wasn't letting up and demanded his money...then all of a sudden the tow truck driver goes "I just wrecked your jeep." WHAT!? In what world does this happen!? We went to where he was with our car and saw this...

Since we weren't there we don't know exactly what happened, but our jeep essentially fell (or something) off the tow and into a truck. Wow right!? The guy was still demanding his money and saying we could have the car once we paid for it...he was seriously expecting us to put our 7 week old in the jeep and drive off with it in this state. The bumper is completely trashed...the tires are messed up...basically RIP Alfalfa.  Casey was fuming...i've never seen him quite so upset. Taysom was upset because of all of the tension and being hungry. It was quite an event...luckily Casey's parents came to pick us up and bring us home. We will be getting a rental car tomorrow hopefully. Needless to say, we took that as a huge sign that we are not supposed to be moving now! It works, since our ward seems to desperately need some people around to fill callings right now. We will just stay here and I will deal with being far away from my baby I guess...it's where we are supposed to be, so it will work out. If only they paid us to be stay-at-home-mom's. Not that I want money, but I would give anything to stay home.

***The kicker is....we had like 4 payments left on the jeep until it was ours. Of course. Haha isn't life crazy!?
