I've been meaning to write about Taysom's birth for a while now, but right now is the only time I had the opportunity!
Dr. Sumsion had wanted to induce me on Monday March 11th, but I just didn't feel right about it. I had him move the induction to the 18th, so I had an appointment in his office on the 11th. He was doing his routine check ups and decided that he needed to do an ultrasound to check and make sure that Taysom was head down. He got the ultrasound machine out and said "Well friend, the baby is head up... he is breech." He told us that he could attempt to turn the baby, but it only had about a 30% success rate at 37 weeks pregnant and the rate of success got lower the further along you are. I was almost 40 weeks, so the odds of getting Taysom to turn were pretty low. He said the other option was to do a c-section and that we could go home and think and pray about it and let him know what we thought was best. We hadn't even walked out of the building yet and I felt like a c-section was our best option, but we went home and prayed to make sure that that was the right decision for us. We decided to go with the c-section and set up the surgery for 4:00 p.m. It was pretty surreal...I walked into the hospital in zero pain (besides the pain from Taysom's head in my ribs) and never really experienced the whole labor thing. We checked in and got my IV started and before I knew it we were in the O.R. getting the spinal block and getting ready to have our little boy! If I would have been induced I would have been in labor for probably 12 hours and then ended up with a c-section, so i'm glad I followed the spirit and didn't go ahead with the induction.
Waiting to have my baby :)

Our son has huge feet & hands :)
Holding daddy's hand... Casey said Taysom never let go of his finger the entire time he was in the nursery.
My first time holding Taysom :) I think the hardest part about having a c-section is the fact that I didn't get to hold him immediately after he was born. He was taken to the nursery immediately and I was busy being stitched and stapled up. We were in the hospital for 4 days and I have had to take it easy so that I could recover, but being a mom has been the most amazing experience. It's true that it is a love like you've never quite experienced before. I can't imagine my life without this little boy and i'm so thankful to my Heavenly Father for giving me the opportunity to be his mom. :) I love you Taysom Wray King!
